May 16-Music Notes

“Alleluia! Sing to Jesus; His the scepter, His the throne; Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory, alone. Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood: “Jesus, out of every nation has redeemed us by His blood.”

Alleluia! Not as orphans are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! He is near us; faith believes, nor questions how. Though the cloud from sight received him when the forty days were o’er, shall our hearts forget his promise: “I am with you evermore”?”

This Sunday, May 22nd at 9 am we gather to celebrate the Ascension of our Risen Savior! Forty days after His Resurrection Christ climbed the mountain and the cloud received Him into Heaven!  We too will one day ascend as He did, if we remain faithful.

Emmanuel Singers will open our service with “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” and then later in the service will sing the popular Gaither hymn, “Because He Lives”.  We thank them for their wonderful contributions to our services this year and wish them the best during their summer break!

Please join us in person or virtually this Ascension Sunday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Fayetteville!
